Enhanced and Fortified with a new Mindset: Advanced Presentation Skills Bootcamp: Presentation for Referrals Generation

Date: Saturday, August 7, 2010

Time: 8.00am: Registration and Networking, Morning Coffee/Tea, program kicks off at 8.30am to 1pm. (4-hrs program with half hour snack and networking break at half time)

Venue: Toledo Room, Level M2, SolMelia Hotel, Jalan Imbi, Kuala Lumpur.

Fee: RM50 per person, inclusive of Morning Coffee/Tea, and light meal at half-time.

Description of program:

This program is to enable every member of a BNI Chapter to plan and execute successfully a Sales-Minute Presentation (60-seconds presentation) each week with the following mindsets:

Mindset #1: This is a presentation to generate referrals from my colleagues and guests in the Chapter meeting, and not a presentation to sell.

Mindset #2: This presentation need to be compelling enough to earn the attention of colleagues and guests in the Chapter from a positive Visibility and Credibility attribute of a member, while taking into consideration the level of thought and preparation that has been engaged in the presentation.

This is then supported by the following essential elements:

Essential Element #1: Each presentation will include a business growth element with an indication of a clear target market being solicited, and with clarity as to why the target is needed by the member to offer a specific product or service.

Essential Element #2: Every presentation will ‘connect all the dots’, ie, will enable all our colleagues in a BNI Chapter to understand with crystal clarity, why a certain product or service offered will benefit a specific situation or person or an organization.

Essential Element #3: Every member will be able to have a few options to choose as to which presentation to use in a particular meeting, taking into account specific guests present on the day or a specific landscape change in business environment in recent times.

Essential Element #4: Every presentation will be accompanied with the right prop for a specific application.

Bonus: A discussion on tips to giving an effective presentations will be covered. Further, Mr. Looi Miin Wei (Chapter President, BNI Supreme Chapter) will offer insights into how to express ourselves in an impromptu mode, and enable an awareness on the importance of gaining mastery in expressing in one’s own business effectively.

We will also invite certain successful members who have gained this mastery to share further insights into how simple it is, actually, to gain this skill.

Lastly, I will invite a member (a colleague whom I came to know) who has successfully had a breakthrough in overcoming language and expression inability, which was moulded in her since her schooling days and how she had made a decision and taken action on taking the leap toward success.

All members from BNI Ampang, Alliance, Supreme and Suria Chapters are enrolled into this program.

Someone asked me what is the exception. My reply: if indeed you can present better than Steve Jobs in promoting the Apple’s IPad! And if you think you can indeed, then do ring up Mr. Jobs and tell him that you can do a better job.

I recommend all to watch a movie before arriving to this program: An Inconvenient Truth, featuring Al Gore, the former Vice-President of USA (arguably the next President of USA after Mr. Bill Clinton). In this movie, it was evident how Mr. Gore was able to deliver his message from the standpoint of deep mastery and knowledge in the subject matter at hand. In that case, it was the environment, which is Mr. Gore’s passion and work to educate the world on pressing matters in this subject.

So, we will see you there!

  1. This workshop has all the bases covered! It will de-mystify what is needed to move a “so-so” presentation to several which are effective for an audience of diverse professionals, given that the message is to educate and move others into action.

I will definitely be there and am now rescheduling my appointments to ensure that Saturday is free. Kudos to you Riyaz … the workshop covers all the necessary angles for ensuring referral generation!

Thank you, Dr. Fauziah. I truly understand that Saturdays are your busiest clinic day and likely your most profitable considering.

I am encouraged to give 110% in this program.

And for the rest reading this article, I couldn’t impress on you more, on the need to make yourself present.

We got to now move from Point A to Point B. Else, can you afford to be stuck at your point now? I know I can’t. And I care for all of you too much to leave you where you are now, knowing that I can add value and knowing you can progress for better results.

Latest on this: as many felt that they were indeed better than Steve Jobs in giving presentations, this program had to be called off.
